This is my original oil painting, 'Rose', started in 2024 and completed in 2025.
Rose was created as a collaboration between myself and my friend, the garden designer, Nadine Mansfield. Nadine had an idea to commemorated celebrate her close friend, the Manchester-based entrepreneur, Marcie Incarico, within her show garden at the 2024 RHS Tatton Flower Show. The majority of the painting was done live in the show garden during the show, and I wanted to capture the sense of the subject blossoming as she moves through her adult life, which is something I felt reflected both Marcie and Nadine herself.
50% of the profits from the sale of Rose's prints will be donated to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Maggie's, both charities very close to the heart of Marcie's family.
Rose is painted on a stretched natural linen canvas and is unframed so that you can hang as is, or have her framed according to your taste. My signature gold bee sits on the bottom righthand corner of the painting, denoting a Sam Bee artwork.
Rose comes with her playlist written in pencil on the back of the painting - this is the music I listened to when I was creating her, which seemed to me to summon her personality and to add to her story. She also comes with a handwritten letter of authenticity from me.
The painting measures 70 x 100cm, with a depth of 2cm.
