Sunset no.5, original oil painting

Sunset no.5 is based on a photo I took a few years ago of a much-loved woodland near my home in Cheshire.

This original oil painting captures the quiet magic of the woodland during a winter sunset, where the last golden light filters through a forest of bare trees and stretches across the snow-covered ground. Cool lilac shadows contrast beautifully with the warm glow of the setting sun, creating a scene that feels both peaceful and enchanting. A winding path draws the eye through the landscape, inviting the viewer to step into the stillness of the woods and experience the fleeting moment when daylight gives way to dusk. Rich in atmosphere and light, the painting celebrates the beauty of winter's calm and the subtle colours hidden within the season.
